Manual
FairThe manual presents a discussion of target populations and uses, and validity and reliability evidence.

Validity
FairThe manual reports significant correlations with teacher identification of creativity in students. Pre and post training administrations yielded significant gains on the CAS after creativity training designed “to foster creative expression.”

Reliability
FairAfter 5 weeks (N=31) stability was .61. Split-half correlations were .81 (N=31) and .75 (N=67). While these correlations seem promising the small sample size calls them into question.

Utility
GoodThere are 32 statements which are answered yes/no. Two statements are filler items. Directions are clear. Scoring is local by hand. Items are scored 1 to 0 depending on the response being judged as favorable to creativity.

Interpretation
FairThe higher scores from 0 to 30 indicate a more favorable attitude toward: confidence in own ideas; appreciation of fantasy; theoretical and aesthetic orientation; openness to impulse expression; desire for novelty. Norms are based on a very limited sample.

Propriety
FairThere are few differences noted in SES in the data. However, results for validity were limited to middle-class schools.
