Validity
Good	Items were developed from comprehensive reviews of the literature on the characteristics of gifted and talented youth, input from experts in gifted education and feedback from school personnel regarding the item clarity, observability, and discrimination

Reliability
Good	Stability ranged from .77 to .91 where N=78. Interjudge reliability was .67 to .91 where N=80 (These are 1976 numbers, the instrument is in revision)

Utility
Good	The measure can be administered by professional after inservice training. It is easily administered. Teachers rate students on a four-point scale based on the degree to which they have observed the presence or absence of each characteristic in the student’s behavior. The manual offers help in scoring. It is designed to be locally scored.

Interpretation
Excellent	The instrument provides ten scores: learning, motivation, creativity, leadership, artistic, musical, dramatics, communication (precision, expression), planning. Each scale is interpreted separately, scores should be compared to peers’ scores using local norms. Scores identify strength which point to the services needed by the student.

Propriety
