Definition Creative reasoning problems are those in which all the clues are given, the solutions are not given, and the task is to generate solutions and evaluate them against the given clues
Purposes This instrument measures the ability to generate and evaluate problem solutions in a variety of categories.
Characteristics Generating Ideas Digging Deeper into Ideas Openness and Courage to Explore Ideas

Fair The manual is clearly-written. It includes administration directions and scoring instructions. A clear description of the norming sample is not included. The data are limited due to a small and seemingly narrow sample.

Fair The data are weak and limited. Correlation with the Remote Associations Test was .70 based on the responses of 50 college students.

Fair While internal consistency is reported to range from .63 to .99 the sample is very small (14 third graders and 139 fourth graders) and not adequately described. Split-half reliability is reported at .90 based on 53 students.

Good This instrument consists of 20 items in riddle format. The respondent must find the correct answer to each riddle. It can be administered by any professional to groups or individuals, untimed, in about 30 to 35 minutes.

Fair Percentile ranks are presented in table form. Rankings are based on a total of 107 college students. There is no discussion of score application. The limited data makes interpretation difficult.
